FunMeter is a full-service production company specializing in premium storytelling across scripted and non-fiction for television, feature film, and podcast. It was founded in 2018 by Latinx, Emmy-nominated filmmakers James Lee Hernandez and Brian Lazarte and focuses on character driven stories that embrace the complexities of human nature and find humor and heart where one might not think to look.
Together, Hernandez and Lazarte directed, wrote, and executive produced the 5-time Emmy-nominated HBO documentary series and podcast, McMillion$ (Sundance 2020) and the Apple TV+ documentary series and podcast, The Big Conn (SXSW 2022), which premiered in May 2022.
FunMeter has an upcoming three-part documentary series, LOLLA: The Story of Lollapalooza (Sundance 2024) premiering Spring 2024 on Paramount+. They’ve produced the soon-to-be-released feature documentary, The Herricanes (SXSW 2023), winner of the Documentary Spotlight Audience Award and the Louis Black “Lone Star” Award.
FunMeter has worked with premier brands like McDonalds, Pepsi, FBI, Lollapalooza, and C3 Presents to name a few and continue to balance telling large scope, compelling stories that thrive in the zeitgeist.
Additional credits include award-winning documentaries and series most notably: Katy Perry: Part of Me 3D, HBO’s Emmy award-winning series Sonic Highways, Emmy award-winning series Wonder Women, and Showtime’s Time of Death.
